Desoto Dog Park Grand Opening Held April 26, 2014

Hot Springs Villagers and their furry friends came to celebrate the grand opening of the new Desoto Dog Park after a two year campaign to build the playground for healthy and friendly dogs.  It was a great turnout, and all contributing villagers were proud of the result of their hard work and donations.

After Joe Moreau and Rolland White thanked everyone for their support and for coming to this event, they performed the ceremonial "Cutting of the Leash"  officially opening the dog park.

All on-leash dogs and their humans lined up to watch a wonderful demonstration of dog tracking, agility, and obedience arranged by Jackie Paul and Dr. Jill Summerford.

Lisa Clem of Barkansas Pet Supply generously donated all the drawing prizes.  She also sent home samples of treats and dog food to everyone who visited her at her table under the pavilion.

Lisa Moses brought her mobile grooming van to the grand opening and provided free nail
clippings to all the furry friends who were interested in a little spa time.

The HSV AWL volunteers were a great help in making the Grand opening a huge success.  They were onboard  to help folks register their dogs with the POA.  They had the forms necessary to register, collected fees, and made sure POA cards were activated for park use.  They even brought along a very cute adoptable mutt named Dooley.
