Desoto Dog Park

Progress Report

The Desoto Dog Park has been up and running (literally) since November 2013. Friends of the Dog Park chairman, Joe Moreau, says "the cooperation we have received from the Board, POA staff, businesses and the community far exceeded our expectations."  The FDP Committee is very appreciative for the overall support for this new Village amenity.

The water is on at the drinking fountains, the benches are in place and shelters are up providing ample shade.  Permanent park signs, name plaques of sponsors, and the Benefactors Board have been installed.  Additional waste stations have been added as well as a "people" porta potty.    Park Rules are posted throughout the area.  Free "Lets Talk Dog" information cards and "Usage Guidelines" are in the slot box at the entry gate.  This spring we anticipate adding native plants to the entrance.  An agility training course and/or other play equipment may be added in the future.

Access to the dog park is only possible by using your coded electronic POA card at the entry gate following the registration process. (See "Dog Park Rules" for registration process)

This volunteer group built 24 benches for the dog park, as well as most of the signs and slot boxes at the entry gate.
